The artistic journey of Nadine Fenton
has taken her through traditional media including watercolour,
collage, batik and printmaking. Her grandmother taught
her to knit at age seven, and needlecraft has held a fascination
for her ever since. Nadine studied metalwork and jewellery
at the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts and the
Haliburton School of Fine Arts in Canada. The heart of her
work is at the confluence of these many influences: colour,
texture, needlework and creating wearable sculpture in metal.
The work is inspired by forms found
in nature, but also by the elegance and sensibilities of artists
like Klimt and
Klee. The work is fluid, with
a whimsical sense of colour and movement not possible with two-dimensional
media.
Nadine is a member of the Conseil
des Métiers d'arts
du Québec, the Society of North American Goldsmiths,
the Metal Arts Guild of Canada, the Ontario Craft Council and
the
Alberta Craft Council. Her jewellery is currently available
through Galerie L'espace des arts du feu, Montréal,
Québec and the Alberta Crafts Council. Nadine’s
work is held in private collections in France, Sweden and across
Canada.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Nadine makes
her home in Montréal,
Québec, Canada where she enjoys yoga and knitting with
her dog. Her favourite drink is tea. |
